Everyone's beloved pizza-loving heroes are making their way to the popular trading card game. The popular TCG's company, the game's creators, announced a much-awaited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion during a exclusive event hosted at New York Comic Con. Is this a radical new set or simply another Universes Beyond cash grab? We'll let you decide.
Take a look here at everything announced from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, along with some useful background. Everything listed below releases on March 6th, 2026, except for one item — a special Pizza Bundle arrives a couple of weeks after on March 27.
Before we get into all the various special decks and bundles available, we’ll examine at all the cards from the main Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion unveiled by Wizards. Play boosters for the set are set at $6.99 each, while Collector Boosters should run $37.99 per booster.
Let’s explore a few surprising details. First, a new gameplay mechanic named Sneak, inspired by the already established Ninjutsu ability, in which players can cheat big creatures into the battlefield when an attacker goes unblocked. The big difference here is that Sneak can affect spells that aren’t creatures as well. Wizards also took the opportunity to clean up the mechanic a bit (It is treated as playing a spell, as opposed to Ninjutsu). The original ability is staying, but chances are players will encounter the new mechanic in upcoming expansions moving forward.
Should we were to return to the Kamigawa plane, we might use the original ability because that plane is it originated and it’s a hallmark to that,” a senior designer stated. “But on other planes, since the rules are cleaner and Sneak is what's going to be Standard-legal, it’s probable that we'd use the updated version.”
Another version of the leader Turtle, Sewer Samurai card, is among four cards with special art designed exclusively for the expansion by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman.
Oh, and, should you be surprised by the card text on Turtles Forever card, which lets you play game cards that aren't in your deck, so was I. But as per Wizards, that's now a official card in all formats of Magic.
In any case, here are the extremely bizarre full-art lands from this set:
As per the company’s current policy, these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard play. Developers say they were careful to make sure the cards and mechanics worked smoothly with current Standard expansions like Edge of Eternities.
“I led the design for 15 months and we knew it would be in standard and what other sets would be alongside it in Standard,” a lead designer says. “Our goal was to make sure that they work well with some of those sets including Edge of Eternities.”
For example, both TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a blue-red archetype built around artifacts.
“They combine to offer the components for a fun Standard-legal deck,” he says.
Following a decision to create any pre-constructed Commander decks for the Spider-Man set and the forthcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender expansions, the company is changing direction with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This time it’s just a single precon, but it does come with six distinct legendary cards who could work as your Commander depending on how you combine them (five of the cards include a unique partner ability called “Character Select” that lets you start with two commanders in the command area instead of only one). Check them out for yourself:
This Commander deck is set at $69.99, although the price may rise due to popularity. Wizards told that it includes 43 brand-new cards altogether, which means an extra 37 Turtle-themed game cards besides the six legendary creatures pictured earlier. (Doing some rough math, this suggests approximately 20 reprints if we assume the deck comes with 37 lands.)
What will the TMNT edition of Sol Ring look like? We’ll just have to wait and find out.
As per usual, Wizards is selling a bundle. It costs $69.99 and contains the following:
This is a special idea for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, mostly in that it comes in a box resembling a pizza delivery box. Every pizza-themed bundle costs $99.99 and comes with the following:
For those curious about the “Pizza Bundle promo card” is, it’s essentially a reprinted older card with all-new TMNT art. Wizards showed one for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual featuring art of master Splinter adding toppings on a pizza slice. In total, there are six different pizza promos available.
This special bundle releases a few weeks after the core set on March 27, 2026.
This special bundle is made for a four-player draft and costs $119.99. That will get you:
Finally, the developers are introducing a new concept with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as part of its continued initiative to develop Magic game products specifically for new players. Here, the cooperative set is a unique product of decks that allow two players team up to face a “Boss” deck that pilots itself.
The general idea here that every Boss card grants special abilities to the creature cards contained in the Boss deck. Each Boss automatically casts an additional card per turn, and you’ll start off fighting {one Boss|
