The most recent European vs US women's golf contest taking place in Europe was in Spain in 2023, with the next edition set for the Netherlands in 2026.

In the wake of Europe's recent Ryder Cup success, England Golf is calling on UK authorities to underwrite their proposal to stage the Solheim Cup in the country for the very first occasion.

This renowned contest pitting the best women players from Europe and the United States has been held on two occasions in Scotland as well as once in Wales yet never in England. A bid has been prepared to organize it at The Grove within Hertfordshire in 2030.

However organizers need £30m to back this proposal and at present only £10m is in place. The organizing body is requesting Treasury support to guarantee the shortfall.
